C4 newsreader turns to comedy

Channel 4 newsreader Jon Snow is to make his debut in an improvised comedy show.

The 62-year-old is taking a break from the post-election coverage this weekend to appear in improvised musical Showstoppers!

The show’s creator, Dylan Emery, is set to create a role for him in a special show the troupe are staging at the Questors Theatre in Ealing, West London, on Saturday in aid of St Mark's Hospital in Harrow.

The newsreader is said to have developed a taste for live comedy after appearing in Sandy Toksvig's Christmas Cracker at the Barbican Centre last year.

Showstoppers!, which was co-created by the late Ken Campbell, has previously featured Little Britain’s Matt Lucas in a similar cameo role.
