Sloss lands BBC Three sitcom
Teenage stand-up Daniel Sloss has landed his own BBC Three sitcom.
The comic is to make a 30-minute pilot episode of The Adventures of Daniel, based on his life as a ‘gawky’ 19-year-old who still lives with his parents in Fife.
Sloss, who has previously written gags for Frankie Boyle to use on Mock The Week, has studied acting since the age of eight, been a stand-up since 16 and made his solo Edinburgh Fringe debut last year.
He said: ‘The show is a mix of my stand-up and some of my crazy thoughts and I'm incredibly excited to get the chance to make it with the BBC.
‘It's kind of the story of my life - so far - and the ups and downs of being a teenager, or as my mum calls it the rollercoaster ride of being a typical half-man-half-XBox hormone-ridden lodger.’
The show is being written by Tim Allsop and Stewart Williams, the duo behind the Channel 4 stcom Plus One – with Sloss providing additional material .
The teenager added: ‘I'm lucky to be working with Tim and Stewart who are two amazing writers, as well as with a great production team. I totally love the script - so I really hope people enjoy the show."
Cheryl Taylor, the BBC’s controller of comedy commissioning said: ‘We're delighted to welcome Daniel Sloss on to BBC Three and are confident that his particular brand of teenage angst will charm young audiences not only in his native Scotland but across the nation.’
The pilot will be shot in Scotland next month.
