30 Rock rolls on...
New series of both 30 Rock and The Office have been ordered by America’s NBC network.
Executives gave an early renewal for both comedies for the 2010-11 season after they won strong audiences, especially among sought-after 18-to-49-year-olds.
Last Thursday's hour-long episode of The Office, which featured the birth of Jim and Pam's baby, brought in nine million viewers; while Tina Fey’s 30 Rock is nudging seven million, after getting off to a slow start when it first launched four years ago
The new commissions will be the seventh series of The Office and the fifth for 30 Rock.
NBC has also ordered a second series of college-based sitcom Community, whose stars include Chevy Chase and Brit John Oliver, meaning its Thursday-night ‘comedy block’ will be intact at the end of the year. The network had already renewed its other successful comedy Parks And Recreation.
Angela Bromstad, NBC's prime-time entertainment president, told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘We are happy to give these early pickups to these critically acclaimed, incredibly funny comedies… they all consistently deliver quality shows.’
