Hart to Hart
BBC Two has ordered a second series of Miranda Hart’s self-titled sitcom.
The star revealed the news on her Facebook page, updating her status to read: ‘ Got a second series. Feel very lucky. Apart from fact BA gone on strike when I am planning to go to Australia.’
The sitcom built an audience over its six-week run, which ended last week, starting with a solid 2.4million, but achieving 3 million by this month, although last night's episode was back down to 2.6 million
Its old-fashioned charm – relying on farce and slapstick – was also well-received by critics, with one reviewer writing: ‘[Miranda] might even be the reincarnation of Tommy Cooper’.
The BBC has now confirmed the commission, with comedy commissioner Cheryl Taylor saying: 'It's rare that a debut series provokes such an ecstatic response and we are delighted that Miranda's special brand of warm and distinctive Comedy will be back to delight audiences again next year.'
