Cameo for Nessa's 'ex'

John Prescott is to make a cameo appearance in Gavin & Stacey.

The former Deputy Prime Minister appears in the last ever episode of the show, which depicts the marriage of Nessa and fiancé Dave Coaches.

Ruth Jones’s character has listed ‘Two Jags’ as part of the running joke about all her former celebrity conquests, which also include Nigel Havers, Russell Brand, Dodi Fayed and all the members of Goldie Lookin' Chain.

His appearance emerged because BBC Worldwide have controversially released the current, final, series on DVD before all the episodes aired on TV. Critics said that licence-fee payers should see the show first, since they funded it, rather than letting the BBC’s commercial arm profit from the Christmas sales boom.

Prescott said he ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ his cameo in the New Year's Day episode, which also features Noel Sullivan from the pop group Hear’Say.

Prescott’s former boss, Tony Blair, famously appeared in The Simpsons and recorded a sketch with Catherine Tate for Comic Relief.
