Thick Of It scoops three Baftas

Triple success at Scottish awards

In The Loop has cleaned up at the Scottish Baftas, winning three gongs.

Peter Capaldi was named best actor for his role as savage spin doctor Malcolm Tucker, Glasgow-born Armando Iannucci won best director, and the team behind the script won the writing award.

Iannucci, who picked up the award on behalf of Capaldi, said: ‘Peter is at the moment flogging the film in LA because it's the start of the award season there. He was gutted to find out it had clashed with this.’

The film was a spin-off from the BBC comedy The Thick Of It, but with the setting changed to the corridors of Washington.
