Tennant to star in US legal sitcom

Dr Who star David Tennant is to star in a new American sitcom about a Chicago lawyer.

The Scottish actor will play Rex Alexander, an attorney so crippled by anxiety that he coaches his clients to represent themselves instead.

The NBC network has had the rights to Rex Is Not Your Lawyer since 2007, but only ordered a pilot episode this summer. Law & Order veteran Barry Schindel is to oversee the show.

Tennant, 37, is leaving Dr Who after five years, to be replaced by Matt Smith.
