Alan's sitcom is really cooking
BBC Two has ordered a full series of Alan Davies comedy Whites, about a lazy celebrity chef.
Six half-hour episodes are to be made following a successful pilot earlier this year.
The series was written by former stand-up turned Peep Show star Matt King and Oliver Lansley, who drew on his experience of working in kitchens.
Davies is said to have been cast in the lead role of Roland White because of his resemblance to Marco Pierre White – even though the BBC insists the character is not based on the Hell’s Kitchen chef.
It also stars Pam Ferris as his agent, Saxondale actor Darren Boyd as a sous chef, Bib, and Peep Show’s Isy Suttie as a waitress dubbed as the ‘female Manuel’.
The series will be produced in-house at the BBC in Cardiff by Charlie Hanson and Michelle Farr.
