Al takes Sydney Comedy Festival prize

British-based stand-up Al Pitcher has won the people’s choice award at the Sydney comedy festival.

His Picture Show, based around photographs he takes on the day of the gig, was voted the best out of more than 300 shows in the 21-day event by readers of Time Out Sydney

The Pajama Men won the Best Of The Fest Award, following their Barry win at the Melbourne Comedy Festival last month, and also took the best newcomer gong.

Julia Morris, who has also spent time working in the UK, was named best local act, while Jeremy Hotz took the international award home to Canada.

The Jury Prize went to The Paradoxical Adventures of Lawrence Leung and Andrew McClelland.
