Melbourne reveals its festival line-up

Strong showing for Brits

The Melbourne Comedy Festival has revealed its international line-up for next year.

The British-based acts invited to the festival are Mark Watson, Rich Hall, Nina Conti, Reginald D Hunter, Russell Kane, Sarah Millican, Andrew Lawrence and Stephen K Amos.

They will be joined by Irishmen Jason Byrne, David O'Doherty, Des Bishop and Neil Delamere.

The festival, which runs from April 1 to 26, is billed as the third biggest in the world, after Edinburgh and Montreal. It boasts more than 300 shows and 1,200 performers, and last year, more than 455,000 people attended.

Other international acts playing the 2009 event include Mike Wilmot, Jamie Kilstein and the Pyjama Men as well as Australian acts Dave Hughes, Adam Hills, Tripod, Fiona O'Loughlin, The Kransky Sisters, Wil Anderson and Kitty Flanagan.
