Silverman scoops an Emmy
She originally sang the song as a video message to boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel on his chat show in February – although they have since broken up.
Silverman thanked her co-writers and Damon, but said he ‘had very little to do this being being popular’.
She added: ‘I'd like thank Jimmy Kimmel, who broke my heart…’ before backtracking to correct herself: ‘Who will always have a place in my heart.’
The song won two Emmys: for best original music and lyrics, and for picture-editing.
Elsewhere in the Creative Arts Emmys – a prelude to the main awards on September 21 – Kathy Griffin won the award for best reality show for her programme My Life On The D-List
‘I'm not going to tell anyone to suck it,’ she said, referring to her comments about Jesus at last year's awards.
The Simpsons was named best half-hour animated show – the tenth time it has won that category – while South Park was named best animated show lasting more than an hour for its special, Imaginationland.
Meanwhile Kathryn Joosten was named best guest actress in a comedy series for her appearance on Desperate Housewives, while Tim Conway won the same category for guest actor for 30 Rock.
However the late George Carlin was denied an Emmy for his final HBO special, being beaten in his category by fellow stand-up Don Rickles
