Gavin & Stacey bid for Xmas No1?
Ruth Jones and Rob Brydon could be releasing a song from Gavin & Stacey as a Christmas single.Fans are lobbying for them to release a cover version of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ hit Islands In The Stream,which featured in an episode of the BBC Three comedy.
Jones, who plays Nessa, said she was keen to have a bash at pop stardom.
She said: ‘The fans want us to release it as a Christmas single. There’s already a group on Facebook and I’m up for it.’
And Joanna Page, who plays Stacey, said: ‘I think it would be absolutely hilarious if they were to release it. I would definitely buy a few copies.
‘I think they should dress up in the original cowboys outfits that they wore in the barn dance scene for the music video. That would be brilliant.'
Almost 500 fans have joined the Facebook group calling on the song to be released.
