Losing Peep

Brand rejected for Peep Show role

Russell Brand was turned down for a role in Peep Show, David Mitchell has revealed.

Mitchell said that Brand auditioned for the role of Super Hans, before he was famous, but was turned down by writers Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong.

The role of the untrustworthy drug-user eventually went to former stand-up Matt King.

But Mitchell told the BBC: ‘Apparently Russell auditioned for the part of Super Hans, before he was well known, on the first series. So he was almost in it. But I bet he would be a handful now.’

The fifth series of Peep Show is due to air on Channel 4 in May.
