Too much bovver
The BBC had asked to reuse the charity sketch, in which the Prime Minister told Tate's schoolgirl character he ‘wasn’t bovvered’, for a forthcoming episode of The Money Programme.
But The Mail on Sunday reports that Downing Street vetoed the request, fearing it would show Blair in a bad light.
The programme had wanted to use the clip in a show called The Blair Rich Project, about the estimated £10million the premier could earn when he leaves office.
But next Friday's show will also say the Blairs will spend around £56,000 on clothes and £15,000 a year on Cherie's hairdressing budget.
A BBC source told the paper: ‘Downing Street have got really heavy about the whole programme. They’ve been demanding to see it before it goes out. There’s a big row that’s blown up.’
But Downing Street said: ‘We didn’t feel that the programme was in keeping with the spirit of Comic Relief.
