The deal's on the bus
Edinburgh 'venue' for sale
One of the more unusual comedy venues at the Edinburgh festival is being put up for sale. The Comedy Bus, which has been a Fringe fixture on Grassmarket for the past three years, has been put on the market for £5,000.
It is a 1973 Daimler Fleetline, a double-decker painted silver and with upstairs hat has been converted into a comedy venue, with sofa seats for 48 people.
And downstairs, in a bar area lit by fairy lights, there is seating for another 15.
Owner Alex van Klaveren estimates that the buyer will have to spend a further £1,500 fixing the gearbox.
He said: ‘It is time for me to move on and sell the bus - but I want to hand it onto someone who can make good use of it.
‘It would be ideal for any comedians who want to run their own venue at the Fringe – and avoid paying the ridiculous venue fees.
‘We would like to pass this vehicle onto someone who can benefit from it .’
