Kay's funny money
Yet the 33-year-old comic still lives in a modest Bolton house with his wife Susan, a pharmacist, and two-year-old son Charlie.
The accounts for his firm Good Night Vienna Productions, just filed at Companies House, came before the publication of his bestselling memoirs, The Sound Of Laughter, which sold 250,000 advance copies to swell his bank balance.
The assets of his company – of which he and his wife are the directors - have soared from £388,000 in 2001. After accounting for bills, the £8 million Kay has in the bank leaves the company today with assets of £6.5million.
It is estimated that his mammoth Mum Wants A Bungalow tour netted him £4.5million, with record-breaking sales of Phoenix Nights and his stand-up shows on DVDs contributing to his financial success.
His £8million would be enough to buy his mum 24 bungalows in Bolton.
