West End run for Grumpy Old Women

Jenny Eclair’s Grumpy Old Women show is to open in London’s West End.

Producers today announced a 37-night run at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, starting on June 14, promoting it as a girls-night-out antidote to the World Cup.

The news comes less than a week after another 40 autumn dates were added to the current regional tour.

Grumpy Old Women also stars Birds Of A Feather star Linda Robson and Fascinating Aida star Dillie Keane, in a ‘tirade of tetchiness’ about the female condition. The stage show was written by Éclair and Judith Holder, who produced the TV series on which it is based.

Up to five million viewers tuned in to the BBC Two show, which returns for a brief run of four programmes starting this Friday.

The stage show is a co-production between Avalon Promotions and Liberty Bell Productions.
