Iannucci directs pizza ads

Armando Iannucci has directed a new range of adverts for pizza company Goodfella’s.

The satirist and BBC comedy executive created two TV commercials for the firm, using its theme: ‘Looks like it's closing time for pizzerias.’

The first has  Italian restaurant owner Bruno Lissoni sneakily unloading Goodfella's Solos pizzas from shoppers’ supermarket trollies; in the second he cooks them himself, only to throw them away because they taste so good.

They form the centerpiece of a £5million campaign to launch the new products, alongside press and poster advertisements.

Iannnucci, whose CV includes I’m Alan Partridge and The Thick Of It, is no stranger to the commercial world of adverts.

He also directed the current Nationwide adverts, in which a fat, smug employee of a rival bank mocks customers for wanting the sort of deals available from Nationwide.
