A Noble gesture

Ross shuns Fringe for village halls

Ross Noble is shunning the Edinburgh Festival next month for a tour of village halls in some of Scotland’s most remote villages.

At last year’s Fringe, the stand-up played the 1,200-seater EICC, and recently broke box-office records at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

But he will be launching his new stand-up show, Randomist, with a much lower-key tour of 20 dates in the Scottish Highlands.

The gigs include some in larger theatres, but the emphasis is on tiny community halls. Noble did a similar Highlands tour last year with Noodlemeister, and Billy Connolly recently played similar venues as part of his Scottish tour.

Noble said: "I'm delighted to be back and doing twice as many dates as last year.

"We had an absolute ball in most of the smaller venues with some of our best shows and most enthusiastic audiences".

The 29-year-old comic has been touring Australia for the past six months, building a career down under.

After the Scottish dates, Noble will tour the rest of the country – and release his next DVD, Sonic Waffle, in October.
