Hardee's gig revived
Malcom Hardee’s floating pub is to reintroduce comedy nights, five months after his death.
The legendary comic drowned earlier this year when making his way home from the Wibbley Wobbley in Rotherhithe, South East London, on a dinghy.
Now Malcolm’s brother Alex – an entertainment agent whose roster includes the Scissor Sisters – is to relaunch entertainment nights on the boat, where his sibling ran notorious open mic nights.
One of Malcolm’s favourite acts, Chris 'Squadron Leader' Luby – whose set involves recreating aircraft noises – also hosts a quiz night on Tuesdays.
Alex Hardee said of the Monday- night gigs, which start on June 27: "Something for everyone: that's what we aim to provide."
Meanwhile, the line-up for Friday night’s tribute to Malcolm at the Glastonbury Festival has been unveiled.
Stewart Lee, Jeff Green, Simon Munnery, Andrew Maxwell, and Squeeze’s Glenn Tilbrook will all take part in the With Comic In Tent gig, hosted in the Cabaret Tent by Arthur Smith.
It takes place at 6.30pm, and will be broadcast on Radio 4 at 11pm on Tuesday next week.Published: 19 Jun 2005
