I f***ing hate comics

Photographer brands them miseries

One of Britain’s greatest photographers has complained that comedians make worst subjects because they are ‘miserable bastards’.

David Bailey, who has shot all the greats of UK comedy, railed against comics as he waited to meet Little Britain’s David Walliams for a magazine shoot.

'So he's a comedian?' he asked. 'They're always the fucking worst. They're almost always miserable bastards.

‘The only ones that I've ever photographed that I got on with were Morecambe and Wise.’

But when Walliams did arrive – to shoot the front of today’s Observer Music Monthly magazine in which he interviews Noel Gallagher - the pair got on fine.

'Are we doing make-up?' he asked the photographer politely.

'Are we doing make-up?' 'Make-up?!' snorted Bailey, half-mocking. 'Don't be such a queen! Make-up!'
