Jim Bowen to make Edinburgh debut

Jim Bowen is to make his Edinburgh Fringe debut this year - with a show about Bullseye.

The 69-year-old stand-up’s one-man show, called You Can’t Beat A Bit Of Bully, promises a behind-the scenes look at the cult gameshow that ran for 12 years.

And audiences for his show at Jongleurs Comedy Club will be invited to take part in a question-and-answer session.

The veteran comic told the Scotsman: "I have been playing a number of university gigs in recent years and have always been really pleasantly surprised by the reaction from the audiences especially when Bullseye was mentioned.

"But this will be something totally new for me. I am really excited about coming to such a beautiful city for the month."

Lancashire-born Bowen began his career as a deputy headmaster, becoming a stand-up comedian on the Northern club circuit in the Sixties.

Fringe director Paul Gudgin said: "The variety of performers who come to the Edinburgh Festival never ceases to amaze me.  It’s a good thing that more traditional light entertainers do not feel out of place here."
