Second series, no debate
Radio 4 has commissioned a second series of David Baddiel’s debate programme Heresy, it was announced today.
Another six half-hour shows have been commissioned from makers Avalon to be aired in June.
The idea of the show, devised and presented by Baddiel, is to challenge conventional wisdom
Topics for the second series include ‘The Beatles are the most important band in history’, ‘Sitcoms are classier without laugh tracks’ and ‘We must never negotiate with terrorists.’
Avalon managing director Jon Thoday said: “I’m really pleased at the BBC’s speedy recommission of Heresy. The shows combination of intellectual chat and comedy has been very successful and entertaining."
Baddiel added: “Heresy is a radio show which attempts to challenge received opinion. The received opinion on the first series appears to be that it was a success and that Radio 4 have done the right thing in recommissioning it. This is the only received opinion we won’t be challenging in the second series.”
