Go jump off a building...

Connolly's latest daredevil stunt

Billy Connolly has leapt off a 600ft tall building as part of his World Tour TV series.

The 61-year-old comic was rigged up to a wire harness for the daredevil jump in Aukland, New Zealand.

He plummeted the entire height of the building in just 20 seconds, reaching speeds of 50mph before his descent was slowed.

Connolly said the experience was "absolutely amazing!" according to Sky Jump manager Steve Weidmann.

He said Connolly's arrival was a low-key affair, but he was "mobbed" by a small group of fans who recognised him on the ground after he landed.

The leap will be seen on British TV when Billy Connolly's World Tour of New Zealand will screens later this year.

Other celebrities who have leapt off the building include Tom Cruise and Xena star Lucy Lawless.

Earlier in his tour of the country, Connolly stripped naked for a 400ft bungee jump in Queenstown.
