BBC axes TLC
The BBC has axed hospital comedy TLC.
The show, which starred The League of Gentlemen's Reece Shearsmith and Alexander Armstrong, has been dropped after just one series.
Tim Brooke-Taylor, who played a manic chaplain, broke the news in an interview with Teletext.
He said: "It's a shame that TLC was axed after just one series."
Tim also complained about the BBC2's treatment of the Goodies, which he thinks ought to be repeated.
"I can't understand the BBC stance as it's always re-running Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and Dad's Army. I guess Ms Root [BBC2 controller Jane] just doesn't like the show and never has."
However, eight episodes are to be released on DVD and video at the end of the month. (Click here to pre-order the DVD at a £5 discount.)
Unlike many other veteran comedy stars, Tim also had plenty of good words for modern shows - although he doesn't like The Office.
He said: "I think there's some good stuff on like Black Books and My Hero, which is very quirky.
"I think Phoenix Nights and Alan Partridge are great but I just don't get The Office. Some of its minor characters are brilliant but it's the type of comedy I loathe."
