Armstrong heads for West End

Stage role opposite Jamie Theakston

Alexander Armstrong is to star opposite Jamie Theakston in a West End comedy.

The comic, half of Channel 4's Armstrong and Miller team (pictured), will appear with the shamed TV presenter in a revival of Somerset Maugham's Home and Beauty from next month.

He will play a First World War major, reportedly killed at the battle of Ypres.

Meanwhile his wife - played by Victoria Hamilton, recently seen opposite Eddie Izzard in A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg - embarks on an affair with his best friend, played by Theakston.

This is not the first West End role for Theakston, whose brothel visits made front-page news earlier this year. He has previously appeared in Art.

Home and Beauty previews at the Lyric Theatre from mid-October, actors newspaper The Stage reports.
