BBC award for promoting comedy

Anne Robinson campaign praised

The BBC's advertising campaign for its Monday night comedy slot has won an industry award.

Trailers featuring an Anne Robinson caricature won a gold award at the Promax UK awards, dedicated to TV promotion.

The campaign for BBC2's comedy zone won the 'best junction innovation' category, even though many viewers found it irritating.

Channel 4 won 27 awards on the night, compared to the BBC's 19.

In the category for promoting comedy shows, gold went to E4's Trigger Happy TV, Silver to BBC1's Have I Got News For You and bronze to Paramount Comedy Channel's Lee Evans - Live in Scotland.
