Al's words of wisdom

Murray gives tips to would-be comics

Al Murray is to launch a new course aimed at teaching would-be stand-ups the tricks of the trade.

He will be dishing out advice at the first session of the Absolute And Almost Beginners Comedy Course organised by London's Amused Moose Soho club.

Pub Landlord creator Murray said: "I will probably talk about the different ways of approaching stand-up, what I like about it, what you might want from it, and how stand-up inspires me."

The 11-week course will be led by comic Logan Murray, also lectures in comedy at Middlesex University.

He said: "These courses will give anyone a chance to dip their toe into the experience of being a stand-up."

Newcomers will learn about gag writing, stagecraft, microphone technique and character development, as well as getting the chance to practise routines on stage.

The course runs on Wednesday evenings, after the introductory session with Al Murray on October 31.

Everyone interested should ring Amused Moose Soho on 020 8341 1341, or by email.
