ITV2 has ordered a second series of Iain Stirling’s millennial flatshare sitcom Buffering.
The broadcaster will air another six-half hour episodes with returning supporting cast that includes Jessie Cave, Paul G Raymond, Rosa Robson, Janine Harouni and Elena Saurel.
Stirling – the voice of Love Island who also hosts the ITV2 panel show CelebAbility – writes the show with fellow stand-up Steve Bugeja.
He said: ‘Steve and I are truly delighted to bring our passion project Buffering back for a second instalment. We can’t wait to show you what our housemates get up to.’
And Richard Allen-Turner, an executive producer, with programme-makers Avalon said: "’t’s fantastic to see ITV2’s continued commitment and support shown for this funny and sharp show.’
The writing team has been expanded for the second series to include Harouni, Cave, Christine Robertson and Sally O’Leary as part of the TV industry’s Comedy 50:50 drive to achieve gender equality in writers’ rooms.
Series one of Buffering aired last summer, attracting an initial audience of 460,000 consolidated over 28 days, dropping to fewer than 250,000 by the end of the run.
ITV's blurb says the new series will follow the flatmates as they 'enter their late 20s, with every wrong decision, failed relationship and wasted hungover day intensifying the feeling that time is running out for them to get their 'adult' lives in order'.
The new episodes will air next year.
