Steve Pemberton and Ben Willbond join The Cleaner

Guest stars announced for series 3 of Greg Davies' comedy

Inside No 9’s Steve Pemberton and Ghosts star Ben Willbond are among the guest stars in series 3 of Greg Davies comedy The Cleaner.

As shooting starts on new episodes, the BBC has announced a raft of guest stars that also include Sharon Rooney,  Conleth Hill and Vicki Pepperdine.

Others are:  Chaneil Kular, Derek Griffiths, Gemma Whelan, Harry Peacock, Paula Wilcox, Philippa Dunne, Rebekah Staton, Rosie Cavaliero, Sheila Reid, Sophia Dall’Aglio and  Viraj Juneja.

Davies – who also writes the BBC One show as well as playing  crime scene cleaner Paul ‘Wicky’ Wickstead – said: ‘I am so delighted to be back wading around in blood.

‘We have made sure that Wicky has some bizarre characters to deal with this series. Looking forward to sweating in a scene of crime suit and wearing the earring that my nieces find so cringe.’

Series three comprises three half-hour episodes, commissioned by BBC director of comedy Jon Petrie,  who said production company Studio Hamburg UK ‘have done a terrific job finding some top comedy talent for Wicky to bounce off’.

Vivien Muller-Rommel from Studio Hamburg UK, added: ‘We’re immensely proud to be back, especially with the best of British comedy joining us on screen.

‘Season 3 is hugely ambitious. In fact, we have so many cast members this time around that you really have to look for the tall, big guy to make sure he’s still in it.’

The Cleaner is based on the long-running German comedy series Der Tatortreiniger (Crime Scene Cleaner) created by Ingrid Lausund.

Broadcast details for series 3 are yet to be announced,
