Comedy with guts
A low-budget comedy horror film starring some of Britain’s up-and-coming stand-ups has just secured an international distribution deal.
TrashHouse was shot on an industrial estate in Southend, Essex, and features appearances from the likes of Gary Delaney, Nic Ford, Paul Kerensa, Cy Henty (of Cy and Sam) and Danny James.
And now it has secured a DVD deal with Screen Entertainment, which specialises in the genre. The company’s back catalogue features such titles as Faces Of Death 3, Gorebox, Nightmare In A Damaged Brain and, most infamously, I Spit On Your Grave.
Film-maker Pat Higgins, the former resident compere of the Jinx Comedy Club in Essex, said: ‘TrashHouse has been pulling in positive buzz from reviews and festival screenings.
‘I'm chuffed that something shot on an industrial estate is getting an international DVD release and that people seem to dig it so much.’
A release date hasn't been set yet, but Higgins said ‘it will be March 2006 at the very latest’.
The deal will see the film released on DVD in f the UK, USA and Canada.
There's more information about the movie, including a trailer, at the official website.
