Here’s Tim Minchin as he looked before he adopted the long hair and eyeliner.

The Australian musician and comedian posted the vintage footage of him playing his track Dark Side following the announcement of a string of UK dates this year to mark his 20th anniversary of performing here.

Dark Side was the title track of his debut album, recorded at the Spiegeltent in Melbourne in 2005, (though the album title was a single word).

Minchin once said of the song: ‘One of the things I worry about, is that because my songs are a bit light-hearted people think I lack depth. So I wrote this song in C sharp minor and get some deep red lights on and hopefully people leave my show thinking "he’s deep".’
