Preview of ITV's new comedy about police recruits

ITV has released a series of preview clips from its new comedy Piglets, set in a police training centre.

The series, from the creators of Green Wing, launches  this Saturday at 9.30pm, after the ongoing second series of Alan Carr's Changing Ends.

It has already attracted the ire of rank-and-file officers, unhappy with the allusion to 'pigs' in the titles.

Piglets stars  Mark Heap and Sarah Parish as officers in charge of new recruits and was inspired by the government drive to recruit more PCs, which some feared might come at the cost of lowering standards.

The recruits are be played by Callie Cooke, Sam Pote, Sukh Kaur Ojla, Halema Hussain, Abdul Sessay and Jamie Bisping, while Rebecca Humphries plays head of admin Melanie and Ukweli Roach and Ricky Champ are the trainers Mike and Daz.

All episodes will be streaming on ITVX from 7am on Saturday,
