Ted Lasso visits the White House
Ted Lasso cast – including Jason Sudeikis, Brett Goldstein and Hannah Waddington visited the White House yesterday and address the press corp.
They were there to spread a message of mental wellbeing.
Flanked by his co-stars Sudeikis told the gathered reporters: 'I know in this town a lot of folks don’t always agree and don’t always feel heard, seen, listened to. But I truly believe that we should all do our best to help take care of each other. That’s my own personal belief.
'I think that is something that everybody up here on stage believes in. That is a thing we talk about in the writers’ room and we talk about in the editing room, and everything in between'
'We just want to emulate these make-believe folks that we all play at AFC Richmond and the way that they take care of one another. That is the wish fulfilment of the show, aside from me playing coach and these guys being professional footballers. That is a big part of the show.'
Sudeikis took a question from the floor – from Trent Crimm, the reporter played by James Lance on Ted Lasso. He asked Sudeikis about his Kansas City home town being one of the venues for the 2026 World Cup.
As he was leaving, a real reporter asked the star whether he would be reprising the Joe Biden impression he has done on Saturday Night Live.
'No, they got the real one here right now,' he replied. 'I need fake teeth and injected with a lot more chutzpah to pull that off.
Also at the press briefing were Ted Lasso actors Brendan Hunt and Toheeb Jimoh, who were introduced by press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. Their visit also coincided with the third series of the football-set comedy launching on Apple TV+
