Trailer for Shrinking

Brett Goldstein's latest TV show, starring Jason Segal and Harrison Ford

Here's the full trailer for Shrinking, the new Apple TV+ comedy Brett Goldstein wrote with its star Jason Segel and Ted Lasso co-creator Bill Lawrence.

The premise – which seems to take a leaf out of Ricky Gervais's After Life – is that Segel is a therapist grieving  for his wife who starts telling his clients exactly what he thinks.

Shrinking also stars Harrison Ford in his first major TV role, playing a therapist and  mentor to Segal's character Jimmy.

At a launch event yesterday,  Lawrence, who also created Scrubs, told American TV critics: 'It is a bit sad but it’s mostly funny. We wanted to write a show about grief because the world is a bit of a dumpster fire right now. You can’t meet anybody right now that isn’t at least two or three degrees separated from some sad shit going on in their lives.'

Goldstein added: 'People keep asking us about the tone. How can you make something that’s so funny but also sad? But I believe, isn’t that life? That’s our daily existence. It’s always about finding balance.'

He, Lawrence and Segal are all executive producers on  Shrinking.

The ten-episode series will premiere on January 27.
