An ode to King Charles III

From Sammy J's poet S.J. Paterson

Australian comedian Sammy J’s bush poet character S.J. Paterson has penned an ode to King Charles III.

His verse, released on the YouTube channel of Australian state broadcaster ABC, mixes up The Crown with reality, before raising some republican sentiments.

‘Because it now appaears/That the Emperor’s got new ears/But nobody down under gets a say,’ he rhymes.

‘And I know now’s not the time/To talk about the royal line/Or the merits of a stystem based on class/But it strikes me once again/If not now, then bloody when?/It seems to be the perfect time to ask.’
