Holmes and Watson: The first trailer

With Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly

Here's the first trailer for Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly's comic take on Holmes and Watson.

It shows that the plot involves the pair investigating a murder in Buckingham Palace, with Ralph Fiennes's Moriaty challenging them to solve the case in four days else he will kill Queen Victoria.

The trailer shows the duo – who starred together in Step Brothers and Talladega Nights – don stupid disguises ('what have you done with Sherlock?' after the great detective dons a fake moustache) and invent the selfie. And of course it contains the line 'no shit Sherlock'...

The cast also includes Hugh Laurie as Sherlock's brother Mycroft and Rob Brydon as Inspector Lestrade and Pam Ferris as Victoria. And there's a brief glimpse in the trailer of Steve Coogan – who stars opposite Reilly in Stan & Ollie, though it's unclear what his role here is.

The movie, directed by Ethan Cohen, will be released on Boxing Day in the UK.
