On Comedy Central's Jim Jefferies Show

Matt Kirshen explained why the royal family is ridiculous on the Jim Jefferies Show this week, to coincide with the big wedding.

The British comic – one of the writers on Jefferies' Comedy Central programme – explained the hereditary monarch to Americans, calling it 'embarrassing, undemocratic and absolutely essential'.

He likened the Windsors to the Kardashians - but argued monarchy was a better system than lying to children that they could grow up to be head of state. Kirshen also said that the pessimism of knowing you could never rise to the top is so essential to the British psyche.
