Trailer released for The Hippopotamus

Based on Stephen Fry's novel

The official trailer has been released for The Hippopotamus, the film adaptation of Stephen Fry's novel, starring The Thick Of It's Roger Allam.

The movie will have a nationwide release on June 2, but Fry will introduce it at the Hay Festival on May 28 with a Q&A, which will also be screened across the UK.

Directed by John Jencks, The Hippopotamus tells the story of disgraced poet Ted Wallace (Allam) who is summoned to his friends Lord and Lady Loganʼs (Matthew Modine and Fiona Shaw) country manor, Swafford Hall, to investigate a series of unexplained miracle healings – which he strives to debunk.

The cast also includes Emily Berrington, Tim McInnerny Geraldine Sommerville and Tommy Knight.

Earlier this month it was announced that The Hippopotamus would open the LOCO London Comedy Film Festival on May 7.
