In his comedy festival gala set

Matt Okine thinks the date of Australia Day should be changed.

The comic waded into the debate during his performance at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival gala.

Campaigners want to change the date from the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet, as it is seen as the start of the genocide of Aboriginal people.

Okine jokingly suggested the date could change every year in his gala set, which has just been published online:
