Comic makes surprise appearance at New York's Comedy Cellar
Madonna has performed a surprise stand-up gig in New York.
The superstar went to the Comedy Cellar on Saturday, accompanied by Amy Schumer, and delivered a set that reportedly ran for 30 minutes, using a notebook on a stool in front of her.
The Trainwreck star also shared a selfie with Madonna at the club, sitting at a table reserved for comedians only.
It is not the musician’s foray into stand-up. In 2015 she performed a short routine on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and two years later she made her debut performing in the Comedy Cellar alongside Schumer
However, Madonna’s performance got mixed reviews, with one audience member telling The US Sun: ‘She didn't do as well as you'd think she would, she got laughs every time she dropped an F-bomb, because just hearing Madonna curse is funny.
‘She also nailed a joke about how with all of these Trump deportations she's not going to have any staff left, which got some laughs, but really everyone was just so shocked she was there.’
