Del Boy would be proud!
It’s a dodgy money-making scheme worthy of Del Boy himself: selling an empty cardboard box for hundreds of pounds.
But one woman who worked on Only Fools & Horses fan is hoping to make that happen, by auctioning off a prop that featured on the hit BBC sitcom.
The packaging is branded with ‘Peckham Spring Water’ – the tap water Sir David Jason’s character flogged to South London locals at cushty mark-up in the 1992 Christmas special Mother Nature's Son.
It was one of dozens of boxes piled high in Del’s flat in the scene, and was salvaged by a member of the production crew as a memento – with permission.
She has kept hold of it for 33 years, but is now putting it up for auction at Harper Field Auctions in Gloucestershire next week.
The guide price is £200 to £400, but it could fetch much more. In 2023, an empty bottle of Peckham Spring Water from the same episode, entitled Mother Nature’s Son, sold for £2,600.
And earlier this month a polo shirt worn by Del Boy in the episode in which the Trotters win a holiday to Majorca fetched £8,000 at auction in Bristol.
