No, that's not a 'fanny pack'!
New York Times has to apologies for not knowing what Richard Gadd's sporran was
The New York Times has had to issue an apology after calling the sporran Richard Gadd wore to the Emmys a ‘fanny pack’.
Journalists on the prestigious title failed to notice the traditional Scottish dress as the comedian took to the stage in a kilt to collect three awards for his hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer, mistaking it for what Brits would call a bum bag.
The newspaper wrote that the 35-year-old had ‘gallivanted onstage in a blue-and-green tartan kilt — accessorised with a black fanny pack over black tights’.
And they added that ‘Gadd's success did create a bit of a wardrobe conundrum: he'll need a bigger fanny pack to carry all that hardware home.’
The newspaper has since added a correction, noting: ‘An earlier version of this article misidentified an accessory worn by Richard Gadd. It was a sporran, a pouch traditionally worn with a kilt, not a fanny pack.’
