Lucy Beaumont' hooked on Yorkshire brown
Comic buys illicit contraband...
Could this be the most stereotypically northern thing ever?
Lucy Beaumont has admitted to a desperate craving that ended her meeting strangers in back alleys to exchange money for a very specific contraband… gravy.
Speaking to Kathy Burke on her podcast Where There's A Will, There's A Wake, the comic admitted: ‘I've got a thing about gravy.
‘We used to live in a place called Byvenroyd in West Yorkshire. And the pub that we went into, I've never had gravy like it.
‘They make it over a week. I don't know whether you like red wine, but it was like red wine. It was amazing, and I asked if I could take some home, and the manager said no.
‘So I got into this sort of like a drug deal with a waitress that worked there. I said, "I would give you 20 quid if you got me some". So I met her around the back of the pub and I gave her 20 quid and she gave me a pot of gravy.’
