Comic's disastrous appearance is most searched-for clip

comedyNearly 7,000 Brits search for James Acaster’s appearance on The Great British Bake Off each month, it has been revealed.

Four years after his disastrous appearance on a charity edition of the show for Stand Up To Cancer, he remains the most searched-for celebrity linked to the show.

The four-minute-long YouTube clip summarising Acaster’s shenanigans on the show has 5.5 million views to date and a ten-second clip of hs breakdown has 7.4 million views on the official Bake Off TikTok

A long way behimd Acaster’s 6,800 monthly searches comes Big Narsite with 1,300, followed by Russell Brand (1,100); Lee Mack (800) and Alan Carr (400).

The research was conducted for catering supplier Alliance Online. Marketing manager  Rachael Kiss said: James Acaster’s appearance, without a doubt.

‘Acaster’s antics appear to still be popular overseas too, with 4,400 Americans searching for the clip each month on average, and 1,500 people in Australia. It’s clear that James Acaster is an integral part of The Great British Bake Off’s legacy.’

The firm conducted the research to mark the return of The Great British Bake Off to screens next Tuesday.
