'Del Boy' nicked for speeding
You mightn’t have thought Del Boy’s three-wheeled van would have been capable of speeding.
But Sussex Police caught a vehicle done up in the Trotters Independent Trading livery doing 43mph in a 30 zone.
And they said the driver only had a provisional licence, prompting officers to seize the vehicle.
The van had ‘New York - Paris – Nuneaton & Bedworth’ painted on the back, replacing Del Boy’s home turf of Peckham for the final location.
Sussex Police shared news of their collar on X, formerly Twitter:

Not when you are stopped doing 43 in a 30 and only have a provisional licence.

It prompted waggish comments from other social media users such as: ‘They had an urgent chandelier cleaning to get to’ and: ‘I hear he hasn't been paying income tax or VAT, or giving money back or guarantee. Might want to look into that.’
It has echoes of a scene from The Russians Are Coming episode of Only Fools And Horses in 1981 where Del is pulled over when doing a trial run to get to a bomb shelter within the four-minute warning of a nuclear attack. But he avoids a ticket as he knows the cop who pulled him over…
