Ted Lasso's AFC Richmond comes to Fifa 23
Ted Lasso's AFC Richmond will be a playable team in Fifa 23, it has been announced.
Game-makers EA Sports have released this trailer featuring actors from the Apple TV+ show — including star Jason Sudeikis – in both real-life and graphic form.
Ironically, a fan conspiracy theory has long held that Brett Goldstein – who plays Roy Kent in the series – is actually a CGI animation. He said: ‘It is so fucking cool to be in FIFA. I’m not sure this is going to help dispel the CGI rumors but fuck it, totally worth it.’
Sudeikis added: ‘I am truly fortunate, and deeply grateful, to have had many special moments in my career thus far, and I consider this experience among the best of them.
‘As longtime fans of EA Sports FIFA, having Ted Lasso and the whole AFC Richmond squad incorporated into the newest version of the game is truly a dream come true for myself and the rest of the fellas.’
The game – which launches worldwide on September 30 – also allow players to elect Lasso as a playable manager in Career Mode or to swap AFC Richmond into the Premier League.
EA’s David Jackson added: ‘Ted Lasso has become a cultural phenomenon, bringing the passion of football and the power of belief to life for millions of fans across the globe. We’re thrilled to welcome both Ted and AFC Richmond to FIFA 23.’
