Comic used to 'conduct' flowers as a 'fabulously queer' child

comedyJoe Lycett says that he was a 'fabulously queer little creature' as a child.

'One of the things I used to enjoy was going out into the garden and treating the flowers like an orchestra,' he says.

'I used to listen to a lot of classical music when I was a little boy and I used to think I was the conductor of an orchestra and maybe thought the lilies were the violins and the sunflowers were the brass section.

'And I would sing Gustav Holst’s The Planets to the flowers whilst conducting them.. it's no wonder I turned out to be this ridiculous adult man.'

He was speaking on a new charity web series, Virtually Everything, in aid of Comic Relief.

He  also recalls how his first paid gig went down, following Jack Whitehall, how he's great at sleeping and loves gardening.

Future episodes of Virtually Everything will feature Katherine Ryan, Roman Kemp, and Shappi Khorsandi, among others.
