Curtis Pritchard: Sorry for the jokes
Love Island’s Curtis Pritchard has apologised to anyone who was 'offended' by jokes he told on Channel 4's Stand Up & Deliver.
The reality star was among those challenged to try stand-up on the show, but his crass, laddish material elicited boos from the audience.
Apparently confusing being terrible at comedy for being ‘offensive’, the 25-year-old issued an apology for his set on his podcast AJ vs Curtis.
'Some of the jokes, they were completely off track and went too far,’ he said.
‘I didn't realise that at the time but I realise it now and I just want to apologise to everybody and anybody that I have offended.
'It was never intentional at all, it really wasn't. It was a great show to be a part of and I was very fortunate to be able to take part but I just want to apologise and say I am sorry for the jokes.'
One of his gags on the show referred to his time on Love Island.
’I had this great idea to go on to the biggest dating show on TV. I had the time of my life on there. It's actually where I got compared to Usain Bolt,’ he said. ‘ 'The only difference is when he finishes under ten seconds the crowd goes wild, when I finish under ten seconds she looks at me in disgust and says "Is that all you've got?"'
He then pointed at an audience member and said: 'It happens to you too, doesn't it?'
He also talked about mistaking hand sanitiser for lubricant.
Chortle’s review of his performance noted: ‘His confidence proved badly misplaced, as a volley of cheap, predicable sex gags about little blue pills and finishing in ten seconds provoked more cringing than laughter… even before he randomly insulted a woman in the audience.
‘The charmless, laddish gags did not pick up, and he didn’t have the wherewithal to pivot onto material that might have won them over.’
