US firm offers $1,000 to view 45 episodes

comedyHave you ever thought: ‘I wouldn’t watch that show if you paid me?’

Well, now that’s a possibility.

One American broadcaster is offering $1,000 (£775) for someone to watch 15 hours of the US version of The Office.

That’s the  equivalent of 45 episodes, without ads, and  it doesn’t even have to be in one go. The terms state it can be watched within nine days.

The dedicated viewer will also have tasks beyond the viewing of the show, as they will be helping conduct research into how often sitcoms repeat familiar tropes.

So the winner will have to keep a tally of such things as how many times Stanley rolls his eyes at the camera or how often Phyllis talks about Bob Vance from Vance Refrigeration.

Only American adults need apply, here –  and you have to explain why you’re The Office’s biggest fan as part of the process.
